About Our Studio

Nicks Ceramics Studio is a 6,000 square foot, well-ventilated studio space in the heart of South Pasadena. In addition to memberships Nick’s will offer kids programs and a range of courses, including beginner classes and specialized sessions focused on hand building, wheel throwing, sculpture, and surface decoration techniques. These classes will run on an 6 or 8 week schedule with additional open studio practice time. This variety of offerings is designed to accommodate those seeking to advance their practice beyond the basics.
This studio has been over four years in the making! We are a women owned business started by artists and educators Vannesa De Anda and Dini Dixon . Collectively we have over 20 years working in various ceramics studios. Our diverse experiences in the field have shaped our holistic view of the ceramics environment. We believe that accessibility and continuous education are key to building a resilient ceramics community. Simplicity, kindness, consistency, and transparency, are at the heart of our ethos. Our aim is to create a third space accessible to all.
Core Values:
Mutual Respect and Support: In this space community members treat each other with kindness and respect. We hope that a dynamic community of makers will grow within the studio and develop a sense of collective ownership by supporting each other's artistic and personal goals.
Accessibility: Nick’s strives to be accessible to all people who desire to work with clay.
Exploration: Makers are encouraged to develop their practices through exploration, experimentation and creative risk-taking. Nick’s views successes and misadventures as opportunities for learning and development.
Sustainability: We care a lot about the Earth and are challenging ourselves to have a light environmental footprint. For more information on how we are doing this please see our sustainability page.
