Nick's Studio offers private lessons and classes in both wheelthrowing and handbuilding for all ages. Bookings are available Saturday's 3pm-7pm or Sunday's 4pm-7pm. To inquire and schedule a private class please email info@nicksceramicsstudio.com at least 2 weeks before you would like to have the lesson.

Private Class- Wheelthrowing

  • Headcount : 2 people minimum 4 people maximum
  • Class Duration:  2 hours 
  • Pricing starts at $260. Each additional person is $80 
  • Class takes place on the main floor during open studio hours. 

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Beginners and experienced potters welcome! In this 2 hour lesson students will learn how to make one wheel-thrown piece from one of our teaching artists. At the end of the class the group will collectively select one glaze for their group. Nick’s will glaze and finish the pieces and they will be ready to pick up in 2-3 weeks.

Clay is messy so please arrive to class in clothing that you don't mind getting a little clay on.

Private Lesson -Wheel Throwing or Handbuilding

  • Headcount : 1
  • Class duration: 1 hour
  • Pricing: $140   
  • Participant pays an additional $15 to keep their work
  • Class takes place on the main floor during open studio hours. 

WHAT TO EXPECT: 

Private lessons are tailored to each student’s experience level. Lessons can be for complete beginners who have never worked with clay to intermediate ceramicists looking to refine their skills. At the end of the lesson, students have the option to keep their piece for an additional handling fee of $15. Nick’s will then fire and finish the work, which will be ready for pickup in 2–3 weeks.

Private Class - Handbuilding (small group)

  • Headcount : 2- 5 people 
  • Class Duration: 2 hours 
  • Pricing starts at $240. Each additional person is $70 
  • Class takes place on the mezzanine; One table is reserved for the class during opens studio time.
  • The group chooses one project focus. Project options are: ALTER, CANDELABRA, VASE, OR MUG

WHAT TO EXPECT:

In this two hour class the group will have one project focus chosen from the list above. The instructor will cover one hand building technique such as pinch pots, coil building, and slab building. At the end of the class students will have made a one of a kind creation. At the end of the class the group will collectively select one glaze for their group. Nick’s will glaze and finish the pieces and they will be ready to pick up in 2-3 weeks.

Private Class- Handbuilding (large group)

  • Headcount : 6 people minimum 15 people maximum 
  • Class Duration: 2 hours 
  • Pricing starts at 520 Each additional person is $70 
  • Class takes place on the mezzanine; the entire space is reserved for the class. 
  • The group chooses one project focus. The project options are: ALTER, CANDELABRA, VASE OR MUG

Policies

  • Private classes get to choose one glaze for their entire group, there will be a vote held at the end of class to make the selection.
  • Each student in a private class gets to keep one piece. Keeping additional pieces will cost $15 per piece. (excluding our 1 on 1 private lessons)
  • Nick's will email the group coordinator when work the groups work is ready to be picked up.
  • All work will be kept for three months, after. Any unclaimed work will be donated to Goodwill after three months.
  • Smaller groups that would like to reserve the entire mezzanine must pay an additional booking fee of $300. We do not offer this option for private lessons.
  • Nick’s does not offer refunds for no-shows
  • Cancelation policy: To cancel a private lesson or private class you must cancel at least 1 week before the lesson. A cancelation fee of $100 will be charged.
